islandcalling250.jpgNew Zealand filmmaker Annie Goldson’s award-winning documentary, An Island Calling, will premiere at the Sydney Film Festival this week as part of the popular ‘Red Hot Docs’ category of films on show. Goldson explores the intriguing true story of a gay male couple who were murdered in Suva, Fiji in 2001. The film delves into the reasons for the killing, penetrating a fascinating culture’s tribal, class and ethnic divisions. Goldson has been praised for her calm and insightful approach to what was undoubtedly a shocking incident.
