Rubber up!

agendarubber-300.jpgSleaze might be gone for another year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t keep the party spirit alive – and what better way than to don a rubber catsuit, a leather uniform or something completely leftfield for the fourth Sydney Rubberball? On Saturday, October 25, Rubberball hits town with its ‘Play – Subversion’ theme, bringing out all of you rubber, leather, kink, drag, PVC, uniform, fantasy, fetish, body art, burlesque, medical and ceremonial enthusiasts! And you must dress up to get in – it’s the whole point of the night, says organiser Lynne O’Brien.

“Everyone really makes a lot of effort to come up with amazing looks,” she tells SX. Some of the best costumes have included giant condoms and pony girls (people who dress as horses and have a master or mistress), as O’Brien notes: “We’re talking beautiful full-rubber outfits with hoof boots, the mane and tail and often a big head-dress – just gorgeous!”

Manning Bar perfectly captures the gothic feel of the original London Rubberball, which inspired O’Brien to start Rubberball here. The fetish celebration is expected to attract up to 900 people, with live performances, prizes for ‘Best Dressed’ and music from DJs Sveta, Mandy Rollins and Feisty.

“It’s a very mixed crowd, from young and old to everything in between, all partying together,” O’Brien says.

“There’s a lot of perving going on but its appreciative perving!”

Sydney Rubberball IV, Saturday, October 25, 9pm-3am, Manning Bar, Sydney University, $55+bf/$35+bf concession, from www.eevolution.com.au or SAX fetish and REACTOR Rubber. SX and Rubberball have six single tickets to give away to Sydney Rubberball IV. To win your ticket, visit the Competitions/Giveaways page at eevolution.com.au
