The Midnight Shift
agendajack-250.jpg“I enjoy meeting the fetish crowd and what they are about. They like to be different and stand out in a sexy way. It’s a much heavier, sexier atmosphere in a fetish party – there’s no wondering if the guy over there by the bar likes you or not – chances are you’ll be finding out real soon!”
So says the amiable UK DJ Jack Chang, just a day before he jets to Berlin for the annual PiG fetish ball, and a few weeks before he returns to our shores (after playing at this year’s Mardi Gras) for another leather/fetish encounter of the raunchy kind – the massive Indulgence Underground dance party at The Midnight Shift.
“What I am most looking forward to is the incredible energy the Sydney crowd gives back during the night – especially the big friendly woof men who aren’t afraid to smile back at me in the DJ booth,” he says, adding that his set will be a mix of tribal house and hard trance.
From learning to play the piano, violin and guitar during his youth, Chang fell into the dance music world after he came out. In a span of six short years, Chang has played at huge gay/fetish parties everywhere from Brussels to Las Vegas to Tel-Aviv. He infers that the dance music scene is evolving with new sounds “to drive people crazy to music.” As he concludes: “This is an exciting time indeed”.

Indulgence Underground, Sunday, October 5, 10pm-late, The Midnight Shift, 85 Oxford Street, Darlinghurst, tickets $35+bf, book at eevolution.com.au
