 Better than the real Britney? Probably not – but what a show-stopper!
As you might know, Britney Spears impersonator; 24-year-old Derrick Barry, had the States (and much of the Western World) a-flutter recently after making it past round-1 auditions on the next season of America’s Got Talent.
I thought it a pretty eerie resemblance ... and a so-so performance for the genre. But the thing that always seems to amuse me about reactions to ‘gender-illusionists’ is the confusion and havoc they appear to reek on the minds of drooling hetero males.
HaHah!
Fair’s fair though – I realise there are straight guys out there who can appreciate these glamourites without issue; though they do seem to be in the minority. I guess I tend to think of these guys as being more comfortable in their heterosexual skins.
But without fail; we often hear of supposedly straight guys who’ve been turned-on when gawking at a ‘cock in a frock’, only to later find themselves confused, pent-up, or just plain mad – and for some reason, this really seems to tickle my fancy.
Though I’m not quite sure why.
Maybe it’s just the cruel irony. I guess there’s a real “sucked-in” factor to it – and I’d go so far as to say it might be pretty confrontational for the sexually naive or phobic types.
I’m sure we covered something along these lines in psychology back at uni – though I can’t much be assed examining the Freudian whys and wherefores these days.
Then again, I 'spose I’ve seen it often enough, having known a number of trans folk over the years – a similar thing perhaps, in terms of perception and ignorance amongst bigoted on-lookers.
For that matter, the reactions of most narrow-minded people never ceases to amaze me. Straight girls with comments like; “I just can’t believe how good he looks – he’s prettier than me, that’s so unfair” etc, aren’t really that much further down on my “is that so?” list.
And I sometimes have to wonder if straight guys who find themselves in this predinkiment, jumping up and down in dismay and disgust, are actually discovering all sorts of new and interesting things about their sexual-selves.
Probably only to later have a fantasy-fuelled tug when no-one’s around.
