‘21st CENTURY LIFE’—SAM SPARRO [UMA]
I’m been waiting ever so patiently for Sam to utilise the momentum of his publicity spurge and get a new single out.

After all, pop years are shorter than gay years! And now finally, after releasing the 80s inspired, green screen, Neneh Cherry-esque video for this social statement song, Mizz Sparro has delivered the full package, resplendent with some must-own-them remixes.

Standouts include the raw funk schwing of the DJ Mehdi Secret Disco Dub mix, and my particular favourite Sammy sizzler: the electrified exhilaration of the Kraak & Smaak make-over. It captures the tension of the message, with the almost funeral organ sound hiding in the disco beats.

Also included is Sam’s sultry acoustic cover of Estelle’s ‘American Boy’.
