VARIOUS (SHOCK)
This is the official soundtrack from the television show we dare not name for fear of having an angry Judy Moran come a-knockin’ on our door.
However, for those of us in Melbourne, the home of the gangsta series, and subject to the viewing ban, our only experience of Underbelly will be this extremely eclectic and brilliantly brutal soundtrack.
Comprised of a mix of old and new, obviously cool and sublimely scary rock, retro and bizarre songs, it hints at the gangster goodness of the series.
There are tracks from The Easybeats and Suzie Higgie, Nick Cave and Little Red, dance act Riot in Belgium, and my favourite song from the West, ‘Don’t Fight It’ by The Panics.
This soundtrack has the unpredictability of the street war it documents, with all of the outsider excitement.
