Please don’t run a mile when I tell you that Lovers Electric are originally from Adelaide (my birth certificate gives me the right to say that). This duo, like me, had the good sense to uproot and relocate – firstly, overseas to London, and then to Sydney for the release of this debut album.

Comprising intelligent power-pop with a nod to the ’80s both musically and vocally, the pair look set to make their mark on the Australian public. Eden Boucher (sister of Butterfly Boucher) is the lead singer, with a voice that ranges from gentle and sweet to tough and punishing; just right for their brand of gutsy radio pop. Her sidekick is David Turley, strummer of guitar, tinkler of ivories and supplier of back-up vocals. Step outside your box this week and get daring: buy Lovers Electric and be thrilled to bits.
