Protestors taking part in this Saturday’s NoToPope Coalition rally will
no longer be fined $5,500 for ‘annoying’ World Youth Day pilgrims,
thanks to a federal court ruling this week.
Gay and lesbian groups across Australia will go ahead with their plans
to rally against the Pope and the Catholic Church’s positions on
homosexuality and HIV/AIDS on World Youth Day (WYD).
More than 100 people gathered to hear Christian members of the gay and
lesbian community speak about their experiences in faith and religion
last Sunday.
The Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby are calling for the New South Wales
State Government to recognise same-sex families, after Premier Morris
Iemma announced last week that his government would amend the Adoption
Act to help foster carers, step-parents and other relatives adopt a
child in their care.
