Gay activist Gary Burns hands Bobby Goldsmith Foundation (BGF) CEO Bev Lange a cheque for $10,000, the proceeds of a settlement Burns received from 2UE Radio.
“I’m very proud to be able to do something for my community,” Burns told SX. “This has been five years of very hard work.”
BGF CEO Bev Lange welcomed the donation.
“This money will help us set up and support the Luncheon Club’s good work,” Lange told SX.
In addition to the financial compensation, 2UE aired a community service announcement throughout the weekend, recorded by Burns to promote the BGF’s Luncheon Club Winter Appeal. On Tuesday, July 1, 2UE issued a public apology that was printed in The Sydney Morning Herald.
2UE host Steve Price is set to deliver an on-air apology before Monday next week. -
