Caution urged at Oxford Street crossings

Pedestrians on Oxford Street are being urged to take care, as the City of Sydney reveals the strip to have the second highest number of casualties hit by a car.

In its new awareness campaign ‘Watch out cars about’, the council is urging workers, residents and visitors to be careful when crossing busy roads.

“Although the number of pedestrians injured is generally decreasing each year, there were four people killed and 342 injured in the City of Sydney last financial year which is still too many,” City of Sydney CEO Monica Barone said in a statement.

George Street in the CBD saw the highest number of accidents involving pedestrians last year with 33, followed by Oxford Street with 20.
