| Clover rides in on anti-Labor backlash |
Clover Moore has kept her position as Lord Mayor of Sydney,
citing Labor Government problems in the state for a backlash against the
party.
The Clover Moore Independent Group retained Sydney's top job for Moore by a comfortable margin of 47 per cent.
Sydney Labor Councillor and Lord Mayor candidate Meredith Burgmann told the ABC
voters were angry with the state's Labor Government.
Moore's record of support for gay men and lesbians is extensive. She introduced the Anti-Discrimination (Homosexual Vilification) Amendment
Bill to outlaw anti-gay vilification in NSW in 1993, introduced the first bill
to outlaw discrimination against transgender people, has sought amendments to
the Adoption Act to allow same-sex couple to adopt, and marched in the last
sixteen Mardi Gras Parades.
