The 18th Drag Industry Variety Awards (DIVAs) was launched at Stonewall Hotel at noon on Monday by Jimmy Barnes and this year’s poster girls, Tora Hymen, Charisma Belle and former Penthouse trans woman, Julia Sommers.

The official launch party then took place on Monday evening, hosted by Mitzi Macintosh.

This year’s DIVAs has the theme ‘Gutter to Glamour’, and will be hosted by Portia Turbo and Candy Box. The ceremony will take place on Monday, August 18 at Paddington Town Hall. The after-party will be at Trademark in Kings Cross.

“I know quite a few drag queens who are close friends of mine, and I’ve seen the amount of effort they put in every week to put on shows, and I think it’s really great they get acknowledged,” Barnes told SX.
