news1-250.jpgThe Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby of NSW (GLRL) has received a cash donation of $15,000 from New Mardi Gras (NMG), taken from the proceeds of the 2008 Mardi Gras season’s Harbour Party in February.

“The GLRL is thrilled to receive this amount from New Mardi Gras. The Harbour Party has been the lobby’s main source of funding for a number of years now,” Emily Gray, GLRL Co-Convenor, told SX.

The funds will go towards office administration, campaigns and projects, Gray said.

NMG General Manager Anna McInerney told SX New Mardi Gras was proud of its support of GLRL.

“We have every intention of continuing to support the Lobby in this fashion, and that’s going to be on the basis of the success of future Harbour parties,” she said.

“We look forward to being able to spread the support to other community organisations too. The board is moving to set up a fund in future years to do that.”
