Victoria Police is under fire for giving k.d. lang an escort through Melbourne to appear on Rove Live, according to the Herald Sun.
The newspaper reported that a motorcycle officer was used to rush Lang to a studio in South Melbourne where the show was recorded and broadcast on Sunday night, after her plane from Perth was delayed.
The Herald Sun said that the move “infuriated victims groups” and quoted Shadow Minister for Police and Emergency Services Andrew McIntosh as saying overworked police would be disappointed to hear of the “waste of resources”.
It is understood that Roving Enterprises arranged for the on-duty officer to collect lang from the airport and get her to the show on time.
