Volunteers gathered to celebrate the success of the Safe Place at its closing party on Friday night. ACON president, Mark Orr, pictured far right, said the seven-month pilot program was a success.
He paid tribute to the volunteers, saying they were the “lifeblood” of the project. Orr added that, moving forward, safety will remain a top priority for ACON and the Anti-Violence Project, and they will continue to work closely with the City of Sydney and Surry Hills Police to address homophobic violence.
The AVP will also put renewed focus on its business ‘Safe Place’ program.
