The blog, entitled Sex Files: The legal recognition of sex in documents and government records, is aimed at encouraging Australia’s trans and gender diverse people to tell their personal stories and views on the impact of existing identification systems. The blog was implemented following months of consultations with the sex and gender diverse (SGD) community. It has been welcomed by community advocates. Phinn Borg, manager of The Gender Centre, told SX it "gives HREOC another point-of-view". However, Tracie O’Keefe, spokesperson for the Sex and Gender Education (SAGE), told SX that while she welcomes the initiative, more action must be taken by the United Nations and World Health Organisation to secure better human rights for SGD people.
