When it comes to family role models, the Pope has a lot to answer for, writes Phil Scott.
Late
last year, the Pope was preaching to the converted about how same-sex
marriage threatens the sanctity of the family. He whinged that the
(heterosexual) family had to be protected from evil old us, because
“the family is the primary agent of peace in the world”...
Geographically and by population, New Hampshire is one of the smallest
of the United States of America. Politically, it is renowned
internationally as host of the first presidential ‘primaries’, the
state-wide party primary elections held every four years to determine
the respective Democratic and Republican presidential candidates, as
part of the nation’s rather convoluted and protracted democratic
process...
And we’re back… So here I am sitting in a room full of backpackers at
9am. I’d forgotten what the daily grind of work feels like. I was up at
7am and showered, walked the dogs, skipped breakfast then did the dash
to the light rail. As I stood next to the seasoned workers I realised I
was hopelessly underprepared for morning. Sunglasses would have been
good and the iPod would have shut out the grunting and sweating around
me...
A friend told me recently that she’d seen an article in a magazine that
said in the next five years we would have achieved more technological
advancements than in the past 1000 years. Holograms, virtual keyboards,
virtual everything almost are on the not-so-distant horizon...
Nonetheless, I hope you believe me when I say I am committed to
maintaining – nay, elevating – the laudably high journalistic standards
for which this page has been awarded lavishly over the past two years.

to sate the unrealistic demands of the community...
