GAY GHOST TOWN
So I attended the Fair Day Forum a few weeks ago. The subject of
fencing, charging and other issues were on the agenda. All of these
topics had received some heated discussions in the past and I was
interested to see how the community felt about the issue (I’m a little
on the fence about the fence, well not so much on the fence cause it
ain’t no delicate white picket fence so I guess I’m a little more hokey
pokey...

VOTING FUN
A few weeks ago I received an email from a trans activist in Brisbane
who was frustrated at what she found when going around gay and lesbian
venues trying to educate people on the importance of voting. Apparently
she was met with punters who were “completely perplexed” as to why any
queer person would bother to vote...

WATERSPORTS
A reader, Matt Egan, sent me an email the other week with a snapshot
from Sydney past, the Jubilee Fountain in Rushcutters Bay. Taken from
the City of Sydney website, it was part of a water exhibition titled,
The Good, The Bad and the Ugly...

On tour, Phil Scott feels like the only gay in the village.
I’ve been abroad, touring the latest Wharf Revue to Wollongong, Gosford
and Newcastle. Also Penrith, which is so far away I should have thrown
a farewell party. Before leaving, I Googled the names of these
satellite cities plus ‘gay’ to see what would come up...

This week I’ve been thinking about kids. Poor little darlings. So
innocent – except in Hollywood feelgood movies where they have mouths
beyond their years – and so easily confused by the big baffling world...
