You don’t have to visit Ireland to enjoy one of its natural wonders. Barry Lowe did it without lifting a finger.
If Mary Poppins is ‘practically perfect’, what does that make Vinny Gough? Is there anything better than perfect? Yeah, Vinny is.
Okay, how many of you now have Vinny Gough hanging somewhere in your home? That was him on the inside back page of last week’s SX. Hmm, I thought so. Sure it was an advertisement for clothing I’ll never wear – hey, I leave fashion for the young. Besides, I don’t think they go do a size in portly.
Twenty-three year old Vinny has adorned the covers and inside pages of a few mags about town but it wasn’t until I saw that ad for teamm8 that I realised just how difficult it must be for young straight guys as well as gay to cope with the problems of body image. Hell, at my age, I’m lucky to be alive let alone have the luxury of any kind of body image.
If I were younger I bet I’d be at the gym, at the nutritionist, at the hairdressers, at the cosmetic surgeons trying my hardest to look like Vinny – one of Nature’s chosen. But I’m too lazy to bother with the regimen that goes with maintaining the look.
“I watch what I eat and train regularly: weight-training and running and swimming for cardio. I’m not a fitness freak though - I do like to enjoy myself, but I try to keep focused on what’s important too,” Vinny says on teamm8’s website.
He’s a builder who represented Ireland in rugby at age 18 and he’s spending his gap year Downunder to recover from a footie injury. His goal is to be “someone who realises what’s really important in life and what things are just distractions. You have to visualise your goals and do what ever it takes to achieve them. Someone who thinks positive and gives out positive energy to others – you should always be nice to people and karma will pay you back!”
If the Irish Tourist Board had any sense they’d feature Vinny in their promotions of not only the natural beauty of the Emerald Isle but also the man/woman-made beauty. And provided young Vinny can string two words together surely a movie career is not far off – provided he wants one.
No matter your standards or your ‘type’, the one thing that is undeniable is that Vinny is gorgeous and beauty like his (he has no trouble showing off most of his body) should be appreciated. And one of the great things about Vinny, apart from the couple of snippets to the right and those on the websites listed below, I know absolutely nothing about him.
I can impose any fantasy I like, create any personality for him, and do anything at all, from vanilla to kink, that I want to do to his body. Or I can just hang his picture up and gaze at it as I would any other natural wonder.
You see, I get the advantage of soaking up the beauty while he does all the hard work maintaining it. As Vinny says: “Nothing in life worth having comes easy.” Oh, yes, it does. Beauty comes easy to those who appreciate it from a distance.
